KNOW YOUR DESIGNERS
If you love what you do, it’s not work! And it hasn’t been. For more than 25 years our designers have offered Interior Motives’ customers a one-of-a-kind experience to fit their one-of-a-kind lifestyles.
That’s what it’s all about right? That your home, your office, the places you spend the most time as a person and a professional reflect who you are, what you love to do, and how you like to live. This unique take on design stems from our owner Angie Rockenbaugh. Her love for design and matching customers with styles, colors, and accessories drives the way we do business, because the most important part of any project is you.
A resident of Elkhart County, Angie entered the field of interior design directly out of high school. She graduated from a joint program offered by Ivy Tech Community College and Indiana University and began working with Sherwin Williams, where she worked extensively with colors, not simply matching colors but learning to understand the color being matched and the different shades that go into making individual colors. Angie’s love for design led her to a home décor shop, where she continued to work with colors, as well as wall coverings and textiles. There she began creating her own designs and working with many of the best local workshops and contractors. This interaction with clients and contractors, staying within budget and in line with the design sensibilities and functional needs of clients, rounded out her formal education.
Always on the lookout to learn and grow, she accepted a position with 321 Interiors and worked under the mentorship of another talented designer who had 30 years of experience in residential and commercial design. This is where Angie saw firsthand the importance of offering complete design services alongside a unique retail gift shop. The company built a strong clientele, making a name for itself as a quality design service with unique retail products. In 2005, 321 Interiors moved to a larger storefront and changed its name to Interior Motives. Then, in 2010, Angie jumped at the opportunity to purchase it. She says, “It seemed like a great fit, and I have always loved working with people to help them accomplish their design goals. Then when the project’s complete … well, it’s not every day you get to walk through someone else’s dream. It’s an incredible feeling knowing you were part of such an incredible outcome.”
The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Interior Motives continues to offer personalized service, pairing clients who want to create a space that is unique to their style and needs with interior design professionals who can help them achieve their vision. Designer Kim Denaway is one of those professionals. She has always had a love for decorating. After teaching for many years, she decided to follow her passion for interior design and returned to school for a degree in interior design. She joined the Interior Motives team with an impressive portfolio and a love for style, colors, and accessories that matches ours.
Interior Motives wouldn’t be the same without the keen organizational skills of Pam Duncan. Pam, the showroom retail manager, has an amazing eye for a good a layout and color structure. Pam is also the Interior Motives go to floral designer–there isn’t a flower she doesn’t like! One of Pam’s main roles is to oversee the Interior Motive’s yearly open house; she helps to prepare the vignettes and accessory offerings for clients. She always incorporates the newest and on trend options. She doesn’t stop there though. She continuously keeps a broad selection of ever changing accessory options in the showroom to compliment different designs types.
