J.C. and Rollie | Floor 9 | Easy, Tiger
It all started with a little wooden bowl. When we saw this hand-carved object and learned that it was part of a collection of authentic artisanal cookware used in home kitchens for over a hundred years, we had to see more! No two bowls are the same. Some of them are deeply worn from use while others still seem to preserve some of their original shape. This unique, handcrafted approach to design is carried throughout the three new brands that we have brought to the IM Showroom for March, and we can’t wait for you to see it all! From the timeless, vintage-meets-modern home accessories by J.C. and Rollie to the twist on trendy offered by Floor 9 and the kitschy (in a good way) gift items from Easy, Tiger, these objects offer something new and refreshing just in time for spring. We’ve all been feeling a little cabin fever, and there’s nothing like inspiring home accessories to help us recharge.
Aside from the wooden bowls, we are loving the cast iron and pooled enamel candlesticks in matte black and milky grey. Tapers are back in a big way this year. We like to see them in groupings on dining tables and mantels, and while we typically spend more time with candles in the winter months, delicate candlesticks are a good fit for spring tablescapes, because they pair so well with bud vases. Speaking of bud vases…Floor 9’s caged vials are such a cool geometric contrast to whichever spring blooms you prefer. For larger arrangements, we also brought in textured, matte black and white ceramic vases. The large white vases are each hand-dripped with white and blue glazes so, just like the wooden bowls, no two are the same.
For the kitchen, you’ll see long trays and tiny marble cutting boards (charcuterie, anyone?). Amber hour glasses and gold plaid frames round out our new home accessories, and the quirky “This is Why I Drink” coffee table book has 365 recipes with places for notes and journal entries. This is such a fun addition to a bar cart, and we love the idea of filling out the journal and then passing it along to friends to try new recipes and add their own contributions. These social objects with a story – either because they have a past of their own or because they encourage you to create a life for them – are exactly why we love the new brands. For us, 2019 has been all about doing good with good design, and we really think J.C. and Rollie, Cloud 9, and Easy, Tiger are going to encourage us all with this mission!
